Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam on Tuesday said the next parliamentary election would be held by December this year if the political parties do not want major reforms in the country’s various sectors.
“If they feel that the interim government should carry out some reforms, it will take another six months to hold the polls,” he said while addressing a programme at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) in Dhaka.
The press secretary hoped that a fair and inclusive election would be held based on discussion with all.
Mentioning that six reform commissions would submit their reports by 15 January, Shafiqul said, “Further decisions will be made after reviewing these reports and holding talks with everyone.”
