The groom’s family erected a temporary stage on the hotel’s rooftop and hosted at least 50 guests at the wedding
A man got married with all ceremonies while being in institutional quarantine in Sylhet.
The authorities have fired the hotel manager over the incident. The matter is also being investigated by the district administration.
A mother, 48, and her son, 28, arrived in Sylhet from the UK on Thursday.
They were placed in institutional quarantine at the La Vista Hotel along with nine others from the same flight.
However, after only two days of being in quarantine they started making arrangements for the son’s wedding.
They informed the hotel authorities that there would be no other guests at the wedding.
However, on Saturday they erected a temporary pandal onthe rooftop restaurant of the hotel and the man got married in the presence of about 50 guests, including the bride’s family.
The hotel authorities said that 15-16 hotel employees were also present at the ceremony. The festivities were completed with an elaborate meal.

The incident was later reported by outside guests attending the wedding.
The man hails from Jangail area of Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj district and the bride from Sylhet sadar upazila.
Abu Taher Md Shoeb, chairman of La Vista and president of the Sylhet Chamber of Commerce, said the UK expatriate woman in quarantine contacted the restaurant manager, asking him to arrange her son’s wedding without the owner's permission.
After contacting the manager, they erected a temporary stage on the rooftop restaurant of the hotel and organized the event.
He said the manager had been fired with a notice and warnings had also been issued to other staff of the hotel.
He claimed that there were only 15-16 guests at the event.
Sylhet Additional Deputy Commissioner ANM Badruddoza said: "We did not know about the wedding ceremony. We are investigating the matter.”
Earlier on Sunday, 9 UK returnees of the same family went missing from a Sylhet hotel that had been converted into an institutional quarantine centre.
When contacted over the phone, they said they had gone home to visit their dying family member in Zakiganj.
When they were brought back to the hotel after 10 hours, a mobile court fined six of them a total of Tk20,000.
