Women are marching for democracy in the city COURTESY
A group of women from different organizations brought out a procession earlier on Friday for democracy in Dhaka.
The procession started from Shaheed Noor Hossain Chattar at Gulistan around 9:30 am and ended an hour later at Liberation War Museum after marching on different streets. The program was held under the banner of the International Women's Day Committee.
“We have started the rally from Shaheed Noor Hossain Chattar, where he sacrificed his life for democracy,” Sabina Yeasmin, assistant project manager of Naripokkho, said.
They also placed eleven demands including ensuring the safety of women, freedom of speech, and repeal of all oppressive laws including the Digital Security Act. At least 200 women attended the program.
