The incident is reportedly carried out by opponents over a local property.

A group of people attacked the Radha Govind temple in Bogra on Monday night along with vandalism of its Saraswati sculpture and tents being set on fire.

The incident has caused outrage among the Hindu community. But the police and locals are claiming that opponents carried out the attack over Tengrakhali Jalmahal.

Dhunat police station OC Kripa Sindhu Bala said: “There are disputes between the two sides of the Hindu community over Jalmahal. Local influentials are also involved in this matter.”

Nimai said he and his men worked for the Sultanpurhata Fishermen's Association in Pardhipur on a day-to-day fishing contract. Rauf Khan's associates Khoka Fakir, Tota Fakir, Mannan, Kamal, Altab, Liton and 10-15 other local terrorists became enraged and continued to threaten them.

On December 13, the Bogra District Judge's Court on behalf of the Penchibari Malopara Fishermen's Association again seized the Jalmahal with a temporary injunction.

Nimai appealed to the High Court on behalf of the Tengrakhali Samiti, suspending the temporary restraining order on 1 February.

However, the opponents disobeyed the order of the high court and occupied Jalmahal.

The matter has been reported to the administration in writing but no action has been taken in the last two months.

On Monday afternoon, Saiful Islam, a surveyor at the Dhunat AC land office, went to the scene with people and sank the boats on both sides.

Khoka Chandra Hawaldar, president of the temple committee, said they were suffering from insecurity due to the vandalism of the sculpture. A case will be filed with the Dhunat police station in consultation with all the villagers.

OC Kripa said that if the case gets filed, legal action will be taken against the accused upon investigation.
