Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has re-launched the new registration of own card Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) pass for metro rail passengers.
DMTCL has announced that the service will resume from Sunday. Also 20,000 more single journey passes have been added to DMTCL.
It is said from the verified Facebook page of the organization, "Metro rail's MRT card re-issue registration and re-issue service has been launched from today. Thank you for your cooperation.”
Mainly due to server complications, the service of MRT pass registration has to be stopped. Metro rail does not have its own server. Metro authority using Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority's server.
DMTCL Managing Director Mohammad Abdur Rauf told media, “We were supposed to launch this service on the 7th. But the work was completed quickly to reduce human suffering. The service has been launched from today. And by increasing the new single journey pass by 20,000, the passengers will not have to wait in the ticket queue for a long time.”
Currently, Metro rail operates from 7:10 AM to 9:40 PM from Saturday to Thursday. Metro rail runs from 3:30 PM to 9:40 PM only on Fridays.
Earlier, on the evening of November 1, DMTCL's Facebook page informed about MRT pass registration and renewal. At that time, however, it was said that this program will be closed until November 7. However, after two days, DMTCL resumed this activity.
