RAB-10 has arrested the driver and helper of 'N Mallick' transport for pushing a speech impaired female passenger from a moving bus in Dhaka's Keraniganj for not being able to pay the fare. Major Shahriar Ziaur Rahman of RAB-10 has confirmed the arrest to the press on Tuesday (March 9) morning. The arrested bus driver and helper is- Md. Shobuj (25) and Md. Nahid (19).
He said they were arrested in a night raid from Kutiamara area of Keraniganj. The bus was also seized at that time. Major Shahriar Ziaur Rahman further said that the details will be announced through a press conference at Kurmitola RAB headquarters this afternoon. The incident took place on March 7 in Rohitpur Bazar area of Keraniganj. A video of the incident then spread on social media.
The video shows the woman wearing a burqa being thrown from a bus named N Mallick at around 8.45 am on the same day. She fell to the ground and muttered in a hushed voice. Later the locals went and picked her up from the ground. As can be seen in the video, the vehicle number is Dhaka Metro B-13-1521. The N Mallick bus runs on the Gulistan-Nawabganj route.
The woman told the people present at the scene why she was thrown from the bus. RAB has collected some still images of her writings on tiles. There the woman wrote, ‘N Mallick picked me up from Konakhola. I didn’t have the fare also N Mallick stuffs never asked for it from me. But they were asking for fare. They acted such way because I couldn’t pay. Everyone in N Mallick knows me. I don't think he knows. So I tried to explain.'
