Veteran actor and screenwriter of Bangladeshi films and television, ATM Shamsuzzaman is no more. The actor, who immortalized many comedy and comedy characters in more than a hundred films since the 1980s, was 60 years old. ATM Shamsuzzaman died at his home in Sutrapur on Saturday morning, according to his younger brother Saleh Zaman. "My brother left us a while ago," he said.
Saleh said, ATM Shamsuzzaman would be buried next to his eldest son Kamruzzaman Kabir at Jurain Cemetery after Janazah after Johar on Saturday.
ATM Shamsuzzaman has been suffering from various complications due to old age for a long time. He also had to go to the hospital last Wednesday with respiratory problems. He returned home from there on Friday afternoon. He died there on Saturday morning.
ATM Shamsuzzaman, who has won the National Film Award six times in addition to the Lifetime Achievement Award for his performance, was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2015.
