State Minister of Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu said that currently Bangladesh has commercial transactions with 210 countries of the world. Bangladesh has a trade deficit with 82 countries.

State Minister Titu said that the current government has maintained trade relations with almost all the countries of the world following the policy of 'not enmity with anyone, but friendship with all'. Currently Bangladesh has commercial transactions with 210 countries of the world. Among the countries, 82 countries have a trade deficit of Bangladesh. Bangladesh has a total trade deficit of $15,239.55 million as per the 2022-23 fiscal year.

The government has taken the initiative to conclude regional trade agreements with various countries with the aim of maintaining competition in the world market in the free market economy, maintaining foreign trade and transaction balance and facing the challenges after the transition from less developed countries.

In response to another question of Abul Kalam, Ahsanul Islam Titu said that Bangladesh currently has a trade deficit with Afghanistan, Bhutan and Pakistan except for Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives among SAARC countries. There is a deficit of $1.49 million with Afghanistan, $14.49 million with Bhutan, $7160.81 million with India, $614.73 million with Pakistan. On the other hand, USD 41.54 million with Nepal, USD 9.07 with Sri Lanka, USD 0.14 million with Maldives are quoted.
In response to the question of Abdul Latif, MP of Chittagong-11 Constituency, the State Minister for Commerce said that in the fiscal year 2022-23, readymade garments worth 46.9 billion US dollars have been exported abroad. In this case the growth rate was 10.27 percent. In the current fiscal year (2023-24) from July to May, the export revenue from the ready-made garment sector has reached US$ 43.85 billion and the growth is 2.86 percent.
