The number of accounts with crores of rupees in the country's banks is increasing day by day. At the end of the June quarter of this year, the number of accounts with more than crore rupees in the bank stood at 1 lakh 18 thousand 784. This number is 2 thousand 894 more than last quarter March. At the end of June, the total deposits in the bank sector stood at 18 lakh 39 thousand crores.
Individuals, companies and institutions - all together have crores of rupees or more as banks. This information has been highlighted in the Scheduled Banks Statistics report of Bangladesh Bank on Tuesday (September 24).
According to the latest report, at the end of the June quarter of this year, the number of account holders who have more than one crore rupees in the bank is 1 lakh 18 thousand 784. Three months ago at the end of March quarter this number was 1 lakh 15 thousand 890. That is, 2 thousand 894 accounts with more than crores of rupees have increased.
According to information, at the end of June, out of total deposits of Tk 18 lakh 39 thousand crores in the bank sector, Tk 7 lakh 73 thousand crores of deposits are of account holders above Tk 1 crore, which is 42.05 percent of the total deposits.
Incidentally, at the end of December 2020, the number of accounts worth crores stood at 93 thousand 890. Then in December 2021, it increased to 1 lakh 1 thousand 976 and till December 2022, the number of those accounts was 1 lakh 9 thousand 946.
