‘I have tried to capture time in my artwork series titled The Dreams. I dream almost every night and my dreams seem to haunt me all night long,’ said Sagufta Nowrin.
Sagufta displayed three main paintings in her series to narrate three of her dreams. Each of the acrylic paintings, created in 2021, is accompanied by a running clock. The main paintings and the running clocks describe the difference between the dream time and the real time.
‘My artwork series is basically inspired by Sigmund Freud’s theories on dream and Spanish artist Salvador Dali’s surrealist style,’ added Sagufta.
Shimanto Ghosh’s mixed media installation titled Transformation of Life to Life has been displayed at the exhibition. The installation is a playful take on transformation, which is a long-running process going on since the beginning of creation.
SM Raahim’s three paintings under two titles, created in 2021, have been displayed at the exhibition. His work titled Witness of Time consists of two watercolour paintings depicting the continuous cycle of time. Sadia Afrose Piya is a student of the ceramic department. Her two clay works titled Kunjor and Nature and a mixed media installation titled Tale of Clay have been exhibited at the venue. The installation describes the changes in ceramic and the changes in the patterns of ceramic art over the centuries.
It also shows how clay item, once considered a household necessity, has become fancy item over time.
Anika Roy’s mixed media installation titled Metamorphosis of Emotion shows the metamorphosis of humankind, the human mind and human emotion.
