Indian film director Buddhadeb Dasgupta is no more. He breathed his last at his residence in South Kolkata at 6 am on Thursday.
Buddhadeb Dasgupta had been suffering from kidney disease for a long time. There were also aging problems. He was 6 years old at the time of his death.
According to the Hindustan Times, Buddha was scheduled to undergo another round of dialysis on Thursday. But his wife woke up in the morning to find that he was not responding. He was later pronounced dead.
Buddhadeb was born on 11 February 1944 in Anara, Purulia, West Bengal. His father worked in the railways. He started his school life in Howrah at the age of 12. He then studied economics at Scottish Church College and Calcutta University.
Buddhadeb Dasgupta won the National Film Award for his film 'Tahader Kotha' and 'Uttara'.
