On the first day of the two-day warm-up match against the West Indies Select XI at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua, Bangladesh managed to score 253/7d runs in 73.2 overs. The visitors had three batters retiring out in their innings.

Hasan Murad provided an early breakthrough for Bangladesh by dismissing West Indies XI captain Kraigg Brathwaite for a duck. By the end of the day’s play, the hosts were at 5/1.

Bangladesh's top-order struggled to find stability ahead of the first Test on 22 November.

Despite a pitch that lacked pace, the extra bounce posed challenges.

Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy was dismissed for 8 off 19 balls, edging a delivery from pacer Shaaron Lewis to slip in the sixth over. Zakir Hasan looked composed until he edged a full-length ball from Jair Mcallister to slip, scoring 15 off 34 deliveries.

Rain interrupted play in the 14th over, delaying proceedings for over an hour.

Once play resumed, Mominul Haque and Shahadat Hossain Dipu accelerated the scoring rate during a 47-run partnership. Dipu scored 25 before being bowled by a delivery from Justin Greaves.

Mominul appeared increasingly settled, adjusting well to the slower bounce. He pulled Nathan Edwards for a boundary in the 26th over but was caught behind off a bouncer shortly after, ending his innings on 31 off 58 balls.

Liton Kumer Das played an attacking knock, scoring 31 off 55 balls, featuring four boundaries and a six, before retiring to allow other batters a chance.

Jaker Ali contributed 48 before retiring hurt, while Mahidul Islam Ankon added 41 before also retiring hurt.
