Two people were killed and five others injured in two separate road accidents in Kushtia and Bheramara. The injured have been admitted to Kushtia General Hospital.
Two riders lost control of a motorcycle at Bheramara in Kushtia and were killed. The accident took place at Farakpur village in Mokarimpur union of the upazila on Wednesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Moinal Haque Milton (24), son of Momin Ali, a sanitary trader of Bazarpara in Golapnagar village of Mokarampur upazila. He returned to the country from Maldives a year ago. He assisted his father in business. Shakil Ahmed (22) is the son of Alam Ali of the same area. Shakil dropped out of school a few years ago. Shakil and Milton are two friends.
According to police, the victim's family and local sources, Shakil and Milton were going to Bheramara Bazaar from Golapnagar area on a motorcycle in the afternoon. In the evening, the motorcycle lost control and fell on the road when it went to the road adjacent to the curved pool in the graveyard area of Farakpur village. After rescuing them, they were taken to Bheramara Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead.
Upazila Health Complex Residential Medical Officer (RMO) Nurul Amin said, they died due to excessive bleeding after getting injuries in different parts of the body including head, arms and legs.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bheramara Police Station Shahjalal said, relatives took the body home before the police left. Burial was allowed without an autopsy as there were no complaints.
On the other hand, five people were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a pickup truck at Minapara area of Kushtia bypass road on Thursday morning. The injured were rescued and admitted to Kushtia General Hospital.
