e-GP awareness workshop held in Jhalakathi



In order to create awareness among all concerned for ensuring  transparency in public procurement process, an -GP (electronic government procurement) workshop was organized in Jhalakathion Monday (August 28, 2023) to help achieve sustainable development in the country.

The Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) under the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) of the Ministry of Planning of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh organized the workshop at the conference room of the office of Deputy Commissioner in the district.

Under CPTU’s Digitizing Implementation Monitoring and Public Procurement Project (DIMAPP) funded by the World Bank, the workshop was organized with the support of Bangladesh Center for Communication Programs (BCCP).

Md. Mahfuzar Rahman, Director (Joint Secretary), CPTU, IMED, Ministry of Planning spoke at the workshop as the chief guest.Ms. Farah Gul Nijhum, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, Jhalakathi chaired the function.

Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Deputy Director (senior assistant secretary), CPTU, IMED, Md. Ruhul Amin, Additional Deputy Commissioner (general),Ms. Latifa Jannati, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue),Mohammed Mamun Shiblee, Additional District Magistrate and Ms. Shajia Afroz, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT)also spoke at the workshop.

Badal Krishna Haldar, Senior Deputy Director, BCCP delivered welcome address and made a presentation on e-GP at the workshop moderated by Md. Abdus Salam, Program Manager, BCCP. He made elaborate discussion on Citizen Portal and its effectiveness for people of all strata.

Stressing on the need for proper utilization of various methods incorporated by CPTU within the eGP system for ensuring complete digitization, Md. Mahfuzar Rahman said, this will ensure appropriate use of public money and accelerate country’s sustainable development.

In the presentation, it was emphasized that besides e-GP Portal, the Citizen Portal will help ensure people’s participation in monitoring of project implementation as this incorporates features to get access to related information on project works. For this, the Citizen Portal needs to be popularized among the people of all corner, it mentioned.

Participants including representatives of Procuring Entities (PEs) and tenderers and journalists attended the workshop.
