Nahid Islam, advisor to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology of the newly appointed interim government, spoke about the internet shutdown.
Adviser Nahid Islam told the media on the first day of the working day on Sunday (August 11) morning that an investigation will be conducted to find out the reason for the internet shutdown during the quota reform movement. Besides, action will be taken against those involved.
Nahid Islam said, Nahid also said that stopping the internet or limiting the speed is a violation of human rights. Everyone has the right to information. Therefore human rights are violated by preventing people from knowing the truth.
He also said that on my first day in the secretariat, I will arrange an investigation against those who were involved in the internet shutdown and digital crackdown across the country during the anti-discrimination student movement.
He said that the motto of this movement was to build a merit-based Bangladesh. That is why those who are working in the administration will also be tried to get opportunities based on merit. Zero tolerance policy against corruption must be maintained.
He also said that there is a great job opportunity for youth in the ICT sector. There is also a large number of such young people in the country. Now you need to connect with them. A connection will be made with those who are experienced. Because the young generation of Bangladesh is capable of leading the information technology revolution. Just need to give them that opportunity.
