It has been decided in a high-level meeting of the government that the trial of the genocide case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be broadcast live due to the violence during the anti-discrimination student movement.
International Criminal Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam confirmed the matter on Monday (September 9).
He said that the present government will do everything for transparency in the trial.
Charges against 10 individuals and organizations, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, were filed at the International Criminal Tribunal for crimes against humanity including murder, genocide and torture committed during the anti-discrimination student movement on August 14. Later, on August 21, another charge of genocide and crimes against humanity was filed against 77 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the same tribunal.
