Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader Wednesday said the family of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is a symbol of honesty, talent and courage in the history of country’s politics. “Bangabandhu is for all and upholding his ideals means showing respect to the values of the country and its independence, he added,” he said this while addressing the

founding anniversary of Sheikh Russel Jatiya Shishu Kishore Parishad at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium through videoconferencing from his official residence here. Speaking as the chief guest, Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said Bangabandhu, the independence and Bangladesh are undividable and tied in one thread.

“Bangabandhu has given us an independent state and geographical freedom while his worthy daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given us economic emancipation and turned the country as a role model of hunger and poverty alleviation,” the AL General Secretary said. Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina are the role models of the new generation, he said, adding “We all have to go ahead by following their paths".

Quader stressed the need for grooming the children as worthy citizens aiming to materialize the Sheikh Hasina’s dream for building a developed Bangladesh by 2041. “For long the shackles were put on the feet of our history. It was distorted. That’s why the youth generation should know the real history of the country and the Liberation War,” he added.

Noting that Sheikh Hasina is one of the three best heads of state in the today’s world, Quader said none of Bangabandhu’s family created Hawa Bhaban. Speaking at the function, Fisheries and livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim said all should remain alert against the intrigues being hatched at home and abroad so that the conspirators cannot mislead people through propaganda.

Recalling the post-1975 history of the country, he said BNP founder Ziaur Rahman grabbed the state power illegally and encouraged the killers of Bangabandhu. Chaired by Sheikh Russel Jatiya Shishu Kishore Parishad president Rakibur Rahman, the meeting was addressed, among others, by AL office secretary Barrister Biplab Barua, lawmakers Nazrul Islam Babu, Sirajul Islam Mollah and Anwarul Abedin Tuhin, Shishu Kishore Parishad Secretary General Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury and its Organising Secretary KM Shahidullah.
