Moin Khan called the budget a 'tool to exploit people'

BNP standing committee member Dr. Abdul Moin Khan. He made this comment after presenting the budget proposal in the National Parliament on Thursday (June 6) afternoon.

Moin Khan said that the new budget process is a tool arranged by the Awami League government to exploit the poor people of the country. This budget is yet another pathetic and heartbreaking deception of the people by the government.

He said, Awami League is occupying power by force. So this government has no moral right to decide the fate of the people of the country.

Earlier, Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali is presenting the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 at 3 pm on Thursday (June 6) in the third session of the 12th National Parliament.

This year's budget is the largest budget. The size of the budget is 7 lakh 97 thousand crores. This year's (2024-25) budget is increasing by 4.6 percent over the 2023-24 fiscal year. This is the 53rd budget of the country, the 25th of the Awami League-led government and the first budget of Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali.

The revenue target in the budget is five lakh 41 thousand crore taka, which is about taka 41 thousand crore more than last financial year. The Annual Development Program (ADP) has been estimated at Tk 265,000 crore, which was Tk 2,630,000 crore in the outgoing financial year.

In the new budget, the overall deficit has been estimated at two lakh 56 thousand crores, which is two lakh 83 thousand 785 crores in the revised budget of the outgoing financial year.

Note that the size of the proposed budget for the current fiscal year 2023-24 was Tk 7 lakh 61 thousand 785 crore. Later it was revised to Tk 7 lakh 14 thousand 418 crore.
