Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader Monday said BNP believes in the politics of creating confusion among people. He said this at a press conference at his Jatiya Sangsad office this afternoon. Quader said BNP calls for taking to streets but the party leaders stay at home and that is why the people don’t believe them.

About the comment of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir that Awami League snatched away the country’s ownership from the people, he said AL believes by heart that the people are the owner of the country and that ownership remains in the hand of people.   Noting that though BNP talks about giving democracy an institutional shape, the party doesn’t believe it by heart, the minister said BNP had given an institutional shape to corruption and looting during their government tenure.

If BNP lacks democracy inside party, how it would establish democracy in country, he questioned.

Quader said democracy is not established in a single day rather it is a continuous process. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government is continuing its all-out strides to take ahead democracy, he mentioned. The AL general secretary said though BNP makes bigger talks about democracy, in reality they couldn’t play any role without making barrier on the path of democratic advancement. Mentioning that BNP created the history of ruining democracy in the name of voting in the country, he said BNP is continuing its practice of the politics of conspiracy and killings.

Earlier, a delegation led by Saudi Arabian Transport Minister Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser paid a courtesy call on Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader at his Parliament office. During the meeting, Quader sought Saudi Arabian investment in the project of upgrading Jashore-Khulna and Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar to six-lane. Saudi Arabian transport minister expressed eagerness in funding in the project.
