Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader Friday said BNP’s criticism over the proposed budget for 2021-22 fiscal is the party’s conventional talks of blind hatred.

“BNP can’t witness anything good. Their criticism on budget is talks of blind hatred” he said.

Quader described the proposed budget as a realistic, time-befitting, trade and investment friendly and pro-people one during the coronavirus crisis.

He was addressing a form distribution ceremony for primary member collection and renewal of membership of Dhaka City North AL at the party’s central Bangabandhu Avenue office.

The AL general secretary said councils of the party units at district and upazila levels, whose tenures have been expired, will be held soon to form new committees.

A total of 27 teams have been formed to conduct the member collection campaign of Dhaka City North AL, he said adding that anti-liberation forces, controversial people and wrongdoers including terrorist and extortionists cannot be given membership.

He said organizations steps will be taken against those who will include such persons in party.

Quader said providing of member collection books to those committees which have regular committees will be started soon as none knows when the coronavirus crisis will end.

“We will have to learn how to survive fighting with coronavirus. We will have to carry out organizational activities with maintaining health guidelines,” he said.

He said before giving membership to anyone in the party, his or her identity and background should be learnt thoroughly. Every team will have to be accountable, he said.

Tested and dedicated workers who stayed with the party in its dire need will have to be evaluated while forming new committees, he said.

Dhaka City North AL President Sheikh Bazlur Rahman chaired the function while AL Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua and Dhaka City North AL General Secretary SM Mannan Kachi addressed it, among others.
