In protest against the attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, India including acts of vandalism, tearing down the national flag, and alleged conspiracies to incite communal violence, three organizations affiliated with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) have launched a "Dhaka to Akhaura Long March."
On Wednesday (11 December) at 9:00 am, leaders and activists from Jubo Dal (Youth Wing), Swechchhasebak Dal (Volunteer Wing), and Chhatra Dal (Student Wing) initiated the long march from BNP's central office at Naya Paltan. The march is being held in protest against "Indian aggression."
The event was inaugurated by BNP's Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. During a brief speech, he said, "Listen, communal rulers of Delhi! You have supported the Lady Pharaoh to remain in power for 16 years. Today, India faces criticism from democratic nations. India doesn't want Bangladesh to operate based on its people's will."
Earlier from 7:00 am, thousands of leaders and activists from Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal started gathering in front of the BNP party office. They carried placards and posters and wore colorful hats.
Before the long march began, the three organizations held a short rally at Naya Paltan, chanting slogans calling for a boycott of India.
