The court has banned the emigration of 8 former ministers and 6 parliamentarians of the ruling Awami League government in the popular uprising of students.
On Thursday (August 29) in view of ACC's application, the court of Senior Special Judge As Samch Jaglul Hossain of Dhaka gave this order. ACC Public Prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir confirmed the matter.
The ministers banned from leaving the country are- former Health Minister Zahid Malek, former Social Welfare Minister Dipu Moni, former Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, former Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, former Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, former Industries Minister Kamal Ahmed Majumder, former Minister Shahjahan Khan and former Minister Kamrul Islam.
The banned members of parliament are — former members of parliament Chalim Uddin Tarafdar Salim, Mamunur Rashid Kiran, Kujendra Lal Tripura, Kazim Uddin, Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury and Ziaur Rahman.
ACC Deputy Director Abu Hena Ashiqur Rahman applied for a ban on the emigration of these ministers and MPs.
It is said in the petition that former ministers and MPs of various constituencies accused of various irregularities and corruption in various constituencies accused of acquiring unimaginable illegal wealth may leave the country and flee abroad, according to reliable sources. They need to be banned from traveling abroad for the sake of fair investigation.
