Singer Chandra Roy COURTESY
Chandra Roy, daughter of legendary Rathindra Nath Roy, a vocalist of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, has started her career in the world of music as a musician following in her father's footsteps. In 2006, her first original song, 'Monero Janalay Chupi Chupi Ashe' was released. The song was written by Dr. Mesar Ahmed and the music was composed by Nadim Ahmed. Later in 2006, Chandra's first solo album, 'Barshar Himel Hawa' was released from Laser Vision with the tune of Basudeb Ghosh.
After a long break, Chandra is going to appear in the audience with two songs of her musical life dream. The two songs titled ‘Janalay Bristy’r Fota’ and ‘Koto Kore Chai Tomay’ are going to be released soon. Both songs are written by Ranju Reza. The melody of the first song was composed by SI Tutul. Tutul will also sing with Chandra in this song. The song 'Koto Kore Chai Tomay' has been composed by Imran Mahmudul, a popular musician of this generation.
Regarding the two songs, Chandra Roy said, “I am very optimistic about both the songs. Respecting Tutul Bhai, I am saying that he is also a famous singer and composer of this country. Being able to work on his melody is a blessing for me. On the other hand, working on Imran's music was a dream for me. Imran's work has been so excellent that I am eagerly awaiting the release of the song.”
Chandra Roy started learning music by her mother Sandhya Roy and later with her uncle Surojit Roy, Khairul Anam Shakil and several others.
