The Singers Association of Bangladesh (SAB) started its journey last year to organize the artists of the music hall. Although the activities of the organization were conducted through the convening committee for so many days, this time the leadership was final. Rabindra Sangeet artist Rezwana Chowdhury Bonya has been elected president and modern singer Kumar Biswajit general secretary. The committee was finalized at the general meeting on Wednesday. The event, held on an online platform, was attended by 50 musicians of different generations from across the country.
The meeting was presided over by Rezwana Chowdhury Bonya paying homage to the late musicians. Kumar Biswajit gave the welcome speech. After their speeches, the organizational activities of the last six months were presented to all the members of the organization under the direction of Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel. Later, Rafiqul Alam, advisor to the organization, proposed the name of a 23-member executive committee for a period of two years for 2021-2023. The meeting unanimously appointed a new executive committee for the next two years.
The 23-member executive committee appointed Rezwana Chowdhury Bonya as president, Tapan Chowdhury and Samina Chowdhury as vice-presidents and Kumar Biswajit as general secretary. Other members of the committee are Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel (Joint Secretary), Joy Shahriar (Organizing Secretary), Chandan Sinha (Finance Secretary), Somnoor Monir Konal (Publicity and Publication Secretary), Kishore Das (Culture Secretary), Sabbir Zaman (Technology and Publications), Training Secretary), Maidul Islam Khan (Law and International Secretary), Yusuf Ahmed Khan (Office Secretary).
The active members of Singers Association of Bangladesh are Ravi Chowdhury, Ankhi Alamgir, Anima Roy, Alif Alauddin, Samarjit Roy, Pintu Ghosh, Sandipan Das, Labik Kamal Gaurab, Ilias Hossain, Sajia Sultana Putul and Sahas Mostafiz. Besides, an 18-member advisory committee was also announced. The committee consists of Ferdousi Rahman, Syed Abdul Hadi, Niaz Mohammad Chowdhury, Khurshid Alam, Rafiqul Alam, Fakir Alamgir, Linu Billah, Shaheen Samad, Rathindranath Roy, Papia Sarwar, Ferdous Ara, Tapan Mahmud, Yaqub Ali Khan, Fatematuzjohra, Abi Kiran Chandra Roy and Shafin Ahmed.
