Jaya wins Filmfare Critics Award

Bangladeshi actress Jaya Ahsan has won the Filmfare Awards (Bangla) 2020 in the category of Best Actress (Critics) for her roles in "Bijoya" and "Robibar". She won the Filmfare Awards (Bangla) 2020 in the category of Best Actress (Critics) for her roles in "Bijoya" and "Robibar".

The award was officially handed over to Jaya Ahsan in Kolkata on Wednesday evening. The nominations were unveiled on Monday on the event's official website. Jaya won Filmfare for the first time in 2018 for her performance in the movie "Bishorjon" released in 2017. She is the first Bangladeshi actor to win Filmfare.

Popular actor Prosenjit Chatterjee starred opposite Jaya in the movie directed by Indian Filmmaker Atanu Ghosh and Bijoya movie has been by Kaushik Ganguly.  Although the two movies are from West Bengal, the viewers of both Bengalis have enjoyed the picture.

The other nominees in the category are Ishaa Saha (Sweater), Raima Sen (Tarikh), Subhashree Ganguly (Parinita) and Sohini Sarkar (Vinci Da). The star-studded 4th Filmfare Awards took  place at Westin, Kolkata on a night filled with glitz and panache. 

A total of 21 categories have been awarded this time. The Filmfare Awards are a set of awards that honour artistic and technical excellence in the Hindi-language film industry of India. The Filmfare ceremony is one of the most famous film events in India.
