Bangladeshi short film ‘Ashlesha’ honoured

Director Akib Mahmud's short film `Ashlesha' won the Best Experimental Film award at the Independent Shorts Awards in Los Angeles, USA. `I had to make this film through hard work and perseverance. Maybe that's why the judges of the festivals like the film. I have already started thinking about new projects. These will inspire me to do new experiments', mentioned Akib.

`Ashlesha' centers around the story of the fishermen in the char region of the river Meghna. The movie highlights how the money lenders exploit them and take half of their profit which leaves them penniless. These fishermen don't get proper education and so they have to struggle hard just to make the ends meet.

The movie got the official selection in several prestigious Film Festival like CineVoyage international Film Festival India, Noble International Film Festival, Global Youth Film Festival, among others.
