Azmeri Haque Badhon recently won the Asia Pacific Screen Award in the 'Best Actress' category for her performance in "Rehana Maryam Noor".Badhon is the first Bangladeshi actress to receive such a prestigious honour.
The actress has confirmed the news to the Daily Star.
Hamaguchi Ryusuke's "Drive My Car" won the Best Feature and director Abdullah Mohammad Saad bagged the second prize or the Jury Grand Prize for his second feature "Rehana Maryam Noor."
"Words fail short to express my happiness right now. My eyes are really tearing up. To receive such good news just before the release of the movie is simply fantastic," mentions Badhon.
The results for the 14th Asia Pacific Screen Awards were announced today in Australia. Among the 25 Asia-Pacific countries, a total of 38 movies participated in the competition.
In the 'Best Actress' category, five artistes from five different countries were selected. Apart from Badhon, the rest of the nominees were Israel's Alena YIV, New Zealand's Essie Davis, Australia's Leah Purcell, and Russia's Valentina Romanova- Chyskyyray.
