Bangladesh speedster Taskin Ahmed tipped the tour of New Zealand as tough for any foreign team to be successful in Kiwi condition and said that he wants to use his experience of the World Cup in the tour of New Zealand.
But the right-handed pacer thinks that if they could give their 100 per cent, it could then be possible to be successful in the Kiwi condition.
Taskin, who was one of the members of the Bangladesh team in the 2015 World Cup which Australia and New Zealand jointly hosted, had the opportunity to play against the Kiwis in the World Cup.
Thereafter, Taskin yet another toured New Zealand for Bangladesh to play a bilateral series in 2017 even though he did not do well with the ball but he did well in batting as a tail-ender.
“I’ve played in New Zealand twice before. I’ve played the World Cup and played the New Zealand series.  It is always very challenging for anyone from outside to play with them in their condition,” said Taskin Ahmed.
“If you want to do well there, it is not possible to get anything easily for both the bowler and the batsman.  Because they are always the favorites in their condition and it is difficult for the opposing team.  But we have to be 100% active,” Taskin told the media at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Monday.
New Zealand’s wickets are a little bouncier than sub-continental wickets but the main obstacle is windy weather that created problems for the visiting sides. Bangladesh will have to suffer a lot due to lack of habit of playing in such conditions.
However, he believes that if he can use the experience of playing in the World Cup, he will be successful in those types of wickets.
“We are used to playing in slow and light bounces. So it’s a little hard for us but I’m optimistic because we played the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.  But at that time there were good wickets for batting and bowling.  If there is a sporting wicket like that then we will have a chance to do better,” the paceman said.
The Tigers will have to stay in the four-day mandatory quarantine and then they have to play for the next 10 days without taking any help from the hosts. Thereafter, they will get five days to have practiced in Queensland before stepping into the main games of the tour.
Taskin admitted that the conditions of New Zealand will be both tough and mental challenging for them like the other touring sides.
“It’s actually a tough mental challenge, never having been in a situation like this before. Although we played in the last two series or tournaments under the bio-secure zone but it would be a little different to be in the same room for 6 days and do everything by yourself then maybe the training will start when the quarantine period is over so it is important for us to be mentally strong and have a different experience,” he added.
In addition, Bangladesh are scheduled to fly to New Zealand at 4pm today to play the three-match ODI series and as many T20Is.
