Left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam bagged eight wickets in the second innings to lead Bangladesh Emerging Team to an innings-and-23-run victory over visiting Ireland ‘A’ on the third day of their lone unofficial Test of the series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram yesterday.

Tanvir, who took five-wicket haul in Irish Wolves’ first innings, finally finished with eight wickets for 51 runs in 28.3 overs as the visitors were bowled out for 139 runs in their second essay at the Sagorika’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

In the second innings, it was Tanvir again with the wickets while Ebadat Hossain and Saif took one wicket each. The 24-year-old left-arm spinner from Barishal was adjudged player of the match for a credible 13-wicket haul.

In between the Wolves' two innings, the home side were bowled out for 313 with Yasir Ali top-scoring with 92. Yasir struck eight fours and five sixes in his 115-ball knock. Bangladesh's top three — Saif, Tanzid Hasan and Mahmudul Hasan Joy — all got out in the forties.

Mark Adair and Graham Hume took three wickets each while Jonathan Garth took two wickets.

Ireland A skipper Harry Tector, one of the few players in the side with the experience of representing the Irish national team, scored a team highest of 55 before falling leg-before wicket to Tanvir Islam.

Ireland ‘A’ had scored 151 runs in the first innings before Bangladesh Emerging Team amassed 313 runs in their only innings of the match.

The two sides next take on each other in five one-day games and two T20s in Chattogram and Dhaka respectively.
