Bangladesh pacer Ebadot Hossain has been ruled out of the Asia Cup due to fitness concerns, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Debashish Chowdhury confirmed to The Daily Star on Tuesday.

"Ebadot has a ligament injury on his left leg due to a sprain. He will be out of the Asia Cup. We have forwarded the report (to the team management)," Debashish told The Daily Star.

Ebadot suffered injury to his left leg during the second ODI against Afghanistan last month and was consequently ruled out of the T20I series against the same opponents. The pacer had been undergoing rehabilitation work since the national team begun their Asia Cup camp.

The 29-year-old felt some discomfort on his left leg on Monday. According to sources, BCB is not keen on naming a replacement for the 29-year-old as there are four other pacers making up the Tigers' pace unit but is considering carrying a new face to groom in which case promising pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who impressed in the recently concluded Emerging Asia Cup, might make the cut.
