A young man named Rashed (28) was beaten to death by the devotees of Tacher Fakir of Kalyanpur Durbar Sharif In Kushtia at Daulatpur,. He was beaten to death inside the Kalyanpur Durbar Sharif on Sunday afternoon for stealing a mobile phone. The deceased was identified as Abdur Razzak, a former UP member of Haringachhi village under Rifaitpur union of Daulatpur upazila. Police recovered the body and sent it to Kushtia General Hospital morgue.
Meanwhile, Abdur Razzak, the father of the deceased, has filed a case with Daulatpur Police Station mentioning the names of 10 people including Pir and another 20/25 people anonymously. Police have already arrested 6 people.
The father of the slain youth, former UP member Abdur Razzak, said his son Rashed had been staying at the Kalyanpur Darbar Sharif for 5-6 months and was a fan of the Darbar Sharif. On Sunday morning, people in Darbar Sharif beat him and seriously injured him and left him inside Darbar Sharif. Later, when Rashed's condition became critical, the people of Durbar Sharif rescued him at noon and he died on the way to Kushtia General Hospital on a motorcycle. They left Rashed at Bheramara Upazila Health Complex and fled. Rifaitpur UP chairman Jamirul Islam Babu said, "I have heard that the people of Kalyanpur Durbar Sharif have beaten to death a young man named Rashed for stealing a mobile phone."
Abdur Razzak, the father of the deceased, said that Tacher Uddin was deceiving people by pretending to be a fake Pir. He is pursuing his own interests by making people fans by using various tactics.
He further said that the issue of mobile theft is being spread. In fact, Rashed may have seen Pir's secret affair, so he has been killed.
Attempts were made to talk to Pir Tacher Uddin about the matter but it was not possible.
Daulatpur Police Station OC Nasir Uddin said six accused have been arrested from the dormitory involved in the incident. Attempts are being made to arrest other accused.
He added that the detainees had confessed to beating Rashed to death.
