Free medical care has been provided to the flood victims at the initiative of the voluntary organization 'Works for Better World'. The free medical camp was held on Tuesday (July 5) at Rubber Dam Bazar in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj and on Wednesday (July 6) at Sharpin Bazar in the same upazila.

The hospital partner of the two-day free medical camp was Better Life Hospital Limited.

The president of the organization Sohel Atol was present at this medical camp. He said that in two days, about three thousand people have been given this medical service with the help of a team of specialist doctors. Besides, free medicines have been distributed among the flood victims as per the doctor's prescription.

In this context, Sohel Atol said, "We are happy to organize this medical camp for the flood affected people. Outbreaks of various water borne diseases have been reported in the affected areas. Poor people do not have the financial abilities to get medical care after the floods. As a result many times this waterborne disease takes epidemic shape. That is why we have organized a free medical camp. It is not possible for us alone to provide medical services or free medicine to millions of people. I hope this camp will encourage other able-bodied people to stand by the victims.”

It is learned that two more camps will be organized by Works for Better World on the 17th and 24th of this month in the flood-hit areas of Dirai upazila of Sunamganj district and Kurigram respectively. Dr. Mousumi Sanyal is supervising this special medical camp of the organization.

Meanwhile, Sharmin Quader, Assistant Director of  Better Life Hospital Limited said that if any patient from the flood-hit area comes to their hospital in Dhaka for medical treatment, then that patient will get special benefits from them. They will provide a number of benefits to the people in the affected areas, including free medical care for a fixed period of time. They will also continue as hospital partners in the next medical camps of Works for Better World.
