Vaccination is being carried out by deploying police at the vaccination center in Kushtia for fear of chaos as the vaccine is much less than the demand. The vaccine is being administered under police guard from Saturday.
Kushtia Civil Surgeon HM Anwarul Islam confirmed the information.
According to sources, the first dose was stopped on April 24 due to shortage of stocks after vaccinating 6,046 people in Kushtia. Then only the second dose was continued. However, due to depletion of stocks, vaccination of the second dose of Corona was stopped from May 11. After vaccinating 626 people on that day, the activities were declared closed. With this, 45,051 people have taken the second dose of vaccine in the district. There are 22 thousand 435 more people left.
Civil Surgeon HM Anwarul Islam said, "The date for the second dose is fixed 56 days after the first dose. Many people come to the center on the scheduled day even though the stock of ticks is over. They returned after seeing the notice to suspend the activities there.”
He said, “The new vaccine from Dhaka to the Khulna Divisional Director (Health) has received 900 vials. From there only 200 vials were found for Kushtia. With this, the second dose can be given to 2,000 people.”
“The number of people who have not received the second dose is very high. That's why there can be chaos in the vaccination centers. So the police were asked for help. Vaccination is being carried out at the center with the help of police", the Civil Surgeon of Kushtia added.
He also assured that the rest will be vaccinated in a few days.
