Miscreants shot dead a UPDF supporter named Varun Vikas Chakma (55) in Panchari of Khagrachari. The incident took place on Saturday (June 8) at around 9 pm in Dudkachara, a remote border area of the upazila.
On Sunday (June 9) morning, the police recovered his body from the house and brought it to Panchari police station. Deceased Varun Vikas Chakma is the son of Sudhir Kumar Chakma of Kamal Krishna Karbaripara of Logang Union of Panchari.
The case has not yet been registered in the police station. The police could not confirm who did the incident .
However, the UPDF blamed the JSS (Santhu Larma) group for the murder.
Khagrachari district organizer Angya Marma told the media that the deceased was a supporter of our party . JSS (Santhu Larma) is involved in the murder. I demand the arrest of those involved in the incident .
According to police and local sources , Varun was staying at his home on Saturday night. At that time, the miscreants shot and killed him .
Officer-in-charge of Panchari Police Station. Safiul Azam told the media that it is not yet confirmed who fired . As the place of the incident is in a remote hilly area, after the body was recovered from the house in the morning, it was sent to Khagrachari Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
He also said , however, no case has been filed in this incident yet. No one was arrested. The matter is under investigation.
