Mymensingh is the latest division and city corporation of the country. This city corporation has completed two years of operation Sunday. Mymensingh City Corporation started its journey on June 20, 2019 under the leadership of Mayor Ikramul Titu.

About 80 per cent of the area of this newly formed city corporation is located in remote char areas. Lack of necessary space in the main town. Due to these various problems, the development of communication system and elimination of congestion has not been 100% successful, but radical development has been achieved in all other sectors.

Under the plan and direction of the first city father Ikramul Haque Titu, the planned Mymensingh divisional city is being built day and night in the style of Singapore and Malaysia. Under the leadership of this leader, the law and order situation including economic, political, social, cultural, communication, education and industry has also improved immensely.

As a result of extensive development work in all sectors, the image of all the areas under the City Corporation including the divisional cities has changed a lot.

Has ensured desired development and information technology based services throughout the city. By throwing a lot of challenges against injustice, the country's famous and terrifying highway known as the crime zone has established Mymensingh as a city of education and peace.

In addition to renovating the old drains in the last two years, new RCC drains, underground pipe drains have been constructed in most areas of the city. In addition, canals flowing through the city have been dug to alleviate waterlogging. Consultants have been appointed to provide better services to the city dwellers. 10 important roads of the city have been widened. Construction of 44 km new road is underway. 15 deep tube wells have been installed for drinking water of citizens, 24 km pipeline has been newly connected.

Besides, last December, ECNEC approved a project worth Tk 1,585 crore for the development of infrastructure and civic services of Mymensingh City Corporation. Tenders worth around Tk 200 crore have already been awarded under this project.

Night waste disposal management has been introduced on the main roads of the city. As a result, there is no garbage inside the city all day long. Chirchena Arbajna has been removed by widening the perimeter of the main doping station in Mymensingh City and constructing waste transport roads inside the dumping station and demarcating the dumping station.

Modern measures have been taken to destroy harmful clinical wastes. Every day, waste is being collected from hospital clinics and diagnostic centers in covered vans. Human waste is being converted into organic fertilizer. The annual production is 1400 tons of organic fertilizer, which is useful to the farmers. Now the city corporation is working to generate electricity from waste.

No dengue patient was reported in the city area during the mosquito eradication activities of Mymensingh City Corporation. Regular crush program, formation of technical committee, identification of hotspots and conducting mosquito eradication activities are being carried out. In addition, efforts are being made to control mosquitoes in a biological manner by releasing frogs and fish in drains, canals and reservoirs. The Mymensingh City Corporation mobile court is working on the issue of placing construction materials on the road, building houses illegally, preventing illegal traffic, ensuring masks and social distance, etc.

2025 modern LED lights have been installed to illuminate the city area. Besides, projects worth Tk 49 crore are underway. Through this project, 182 km roads of the city will be illuminated by 2021. The work of 39 km has already been completed.

 Guardian camps have been set up for parents in front of various schools in the city. From the front of the Deputy Commissioner's bungalow to the Eidgah ground has been beautified. Zainul Udyan has been decorated with aesthetic light. The city's traditional Bipin Park has also been renovated.

Various facilities including latrines, footpaths, tube wells, drains have been constructed to improve the living standards of the marginalized people of the city.

In response to the Corona crisis, 1328 tons of rice and food aid worth Tk 75 lakh have been provided from the allocation of the city corporation. Mayor Titu has distributed about 60,000 packets of food on his personal initiative. Under the initiative of City Corporation, hand washing system has been set up in 525 populated places and daily awareness message has been disseminated to 100 mics, awareness message has been disseminated through campaign in 20 places and several lakh masks have been distributed. Disinfectants are being sprayed regularly through 4 cars and 25 spray machines. Disinfection tunnels have been laid.

A telemedicine center has been set up so that city dwellers can avail medical services at home. Mask campaigns are also being conducted regularly at multiple points in the city to raise corona awareness.

Mymensingh City Corporation area had the highest number of corona vaccine registrations and vaccinations among all the districts of Mymensingh division.

Mymensingh City Corporation is working to develop the spirit of liberation war, preserve history and develop healthy culture. Joybangla Chattar has been inaugurated on the Victory Day 2020 at the initiative of the city mayor to spread the spirit of Bangabandhu and the war of liberation.
