The deceased, identified as Delowar Hossain (28), is son of Kala Mia from Uttar Jaliapara area of Teknaf upazila.

RAB-7 Deputy Commander Major Mushfiqur Rahman confirmed the matter around 11pm on Wednesday.

“On information that a drug trade will take place, our team went inside Ramu Rubber Garden around 7am. At one point, the drug traders started firing on us and we fired back in self-defence,” he said.

“The body was sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Legal process is underway in this regard,” Mushfiqur added.
