Mystery of killing for getting ransom money, arrested 3 in Bogura

STAFF CORRESPONDENT, BOGURA:  A team of Detective Branch (DB) police and Police of Kahaloo police station have unearthed the mystery of killing of a youth and arrested three killers from Shiba Komla village area under Kahaloo upazila in Bogura on early Friday.

The deceased was Bidhan Chandra Sarkar, 20, son of Anil Chandra Sarkar of Shiba Komla village under Kahaloo upazila of Bogura.

The arrested were identified as Bipul Chandra Pramanik, 35, son of Bidu Chandra Pramanik, Dinesh Chandra Pramanik, 41, son of Jiten Chandra Pramanik, and Utpal Chandra Pramanik, 24, son of Juktababu Chandra Pramanik of Shiba Komla village under Kahaloo upazila in Bogura.

Police said that deceased’s father filed a General Diary with Kahaloo PS on 12 April, 2023 as his son had been missing and from that time, police have been conducting drives to trace the victim out but after one and half months later, one of the arrestees phoned him and demanded ransom money at T. 6 lakh for getting back his son alive.

After the phone, victim’s father informed Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bogura Sudip Kumar Chakrabarty and his direct supervision, with the help of technology, police could arrest the killers from the same area, added the police.

Police also added that later, the arrestees confessed that the deceased was their intimate person and after drinking wine and they killed the victim and buried him in a isolated area and later they tried to get ransom money from the deceased father.

Contacted, Mahmud Hasan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kahaloo Police Station said that the arrestees killed the deceased in a planned way and demanded ransom money and a murder case will be lodged against the killers in the PS and they will be sent to the court soon.
