Police have arrested a man on suspicion of stabbing his colleague to death in Chattogram. The incident took place in the office of Tilottama Tiles company in the Lalkhan Bazar area under Khulshi police station in the Chattogram Metropolitan area around 3pm on Monday.
The arrestee was identified as Nehar Richil, 51, son of late Kharip Sangma from the Lalitabari police station area in Sherpur. He was employed as a cook at Tilottama Tiles company’s Chattogram office.
The deceased was identified as Mainul Islam Tanmoy, 35, son of SM Kamal Uddin of Chuadanga Sadarupa zila. He was employed as an accountant of the company.
The company's plumber Mahabub told to the Dhaka Tribune four people, including victim Tanmoy, lived on the third floor of the Tilottama Tiles building. NeharRichil was in-charge of the kitchen.
Due to an event that was being organized, Nihar and Tanmoy were the only people at the office at the time of the incident.
Khulshi Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Santosh Kumar Chakma said Nehar stabbed Tanmoy out of personal resentment. He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in critical condition and the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
A case is in the process of being filed over incident, the OC added.
