Bangladesh Coast Guard Station conducted a special operation in the area adjacent to Puran Bazar Bridge in Chandpur district and arrested two persons along with approximately 1,500 kg of Jatka and a pickup van. The operation was led by Lt. M Ashmaduzzaman on the basis of secret information.
During the operation, Chandpur Boyra searched a pickup going from Laxmipur to Dhaka-Jatrabari and arrested two persons including Jatka. The arrested persons are Mohammad Yasin Mollah (18), son of Mohammad Selim Mollah of Braman Gaon village under Chandpur Sadar and Mohammad Rafiqul Ilslam (35), son of late Mohammad Hossain Ali Mandal of Khourdra Narayanpur village under Mahadevpur of Naogaon district.
The seized jatkas were distributed to the local orphanage in the presence of the executive magistrate and assistant fisheries officer. Each of the detainees was later sentenced to one year in a mobile court headed by an executive magistrate and ordered to be detained until further orders from the seized pickup station commander Chandpur.
