Five people were crushed under the wheels of a speeding train in Raipura Upazila of Narsingdi on Monday morning.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Two injured people are undergoing treatment at Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.
Safayet Hossain Polash, Officer-in-Charge of Raipura police station, said locals spotted the bodies lying by the Dhaka-Chattogram rail track in Kamolpur village under Palashtali union of the upazila early in the morning.
Upon receiving information, the bodies were recovered from the spot, and the injured were sent to the hospital, he said.
The OC stated that the people might have been crushed under the wheels of the Dhaka-bound Teeta Commuter Train from Brahmanbaria’s Akhaura Station. The train was scheduled to pass through Narsingdi by 7:00 am.
Details about the incident will be shared later, he added.
