Two buses were burned in Dhaka’s Gulistan area on Tuesday morning, on the first day of the latest blockade called by Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its allies in the ongoing movement.
Unidentified arsonists set a bus on fire in front of Gulistan police box, under Mayor Hanif Flyover.
The incident was reported at about12:20pm on Tuesday, said Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters (media cell).
On information, two fire-fighting units from Siddique Bazar Fire Station rushed to the spot and doused the fire at about 12:34pm, he added.
No casualty was reported in these regard.
Earlier, arsonists set a bus of Bahon Paribahan on fire in Gulistan area at about 10:00am.
BNP and some other parties are observing hartals and blockades across the country to protest at the schedule for the next national election announced by the Election Commission.
