670 houses handed over among in Haimchar

Chandpur Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's gift to the victims of river erosion The army has handed over to the upazila administration 670 houses built under the Kanshaban Charrao Shelter Project of Neel Kamal Union west of Meghna river in Haimchar upazila of Chandpur.

Chief Guest Brigadier General SM Zahid Hasan on Thursday at noon formally handed over the Ebaghar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) to Chai Thoaihla Chowdhury. At this time winter clothes were distributed among the destitute.


The chief guest said a project called 'Asrayan' has been undertaken since 1996 to rehabilitate homeless families under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Bangladesh Army is implementing projects in different places to implement the initiative of the Prime Minister. These houses have been constructed on Kanshaban Charrao Char under Asrayan-2 project.


He said the char is a ruptured area. Due to which many people here have become homeless. The army has implemented this great initiative of the Prime Minister to create housing for these homeless people. Which we handed over to the upazila administration today.


Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Chai Thoaihla Chowdhury Chowdhury said in his speech, "We will try to make those who will live in these houses self-reliant." Arrangements will be made to train and employ them from various government agencies. Not just looking at the government. You also have to work and take new initiatives. We will stand by your children's education, health and overall cooperation.

Each barrack house of 5 units in the shelter project is completely covered by CI sheet. A total of 402 toilets and 134 shallow tube wells have been installed for the convenience of the families living in the shelter project.

Chandpur Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Nasir Uddin Sarwar and Haimchar Upazila Parishad Chairman Nur Hossain Patwari addressed the function conducted by Major Sadiqur Rahman. Neel Kamal Union Parishad Chairman Naser Al Saud, Gazipur Union Parishad Chairman Habibur Rahman Ghazi and other dignitaries were present.
