5 students of Jamalpur Girls High School of Sadullapur Upazila of Gaibandha were cut with a sharp knife and injured. An outsider named Jannati Akhtar suddenly entered the school and stabbed the students.
The incident happened on Tuesday (June 11) around 11:00 am when the school was running.
The three students admitted to the hospital are Setu, Mitu and Rabeya. All three of them are sixth graders of that school. Setu's left hand, Mitu's back and Rabeya's two legs and head were injured by the knife. Two other injured students were given first aid.
Meanwhile, after this incident, the locals arrested the accused woman and handed her over to the police. The arrested woman's name is Jannati Akhtar (21). She is the wife of Ashiq Mia of Goeshpur village in Jamalpur union of Sadullapur upazila.
Police and locals said that girls' classes were going on in the school as usual. Some students were sitting on the balcony of the school talking between classes. At that time, a woman suddenly entered the school and started hitting the students with a sharp knife in her hand. Later, when the locals along with other students of the school came forward, the woman was arrested. Many people present claimed that the woman was mentally unbalanced.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadullapur Police Station. Shafiqul Islam told the media that after receiving information, the accused woman was arrested from the scene and brought to the police station. At that time, a sharp knife was seized from him. However, he is being interrogated to know why he did such an incident.
