1,010 Houses distributes in Nilphamari

In the second phase, 1,010 landless and homeless families in Nilphamari are getting Paka houses gifted by the Prime Minister. These houses will be distributed on June 20 on the occasion of Mujibbarsha under the Prime Minister's Asrayan-2 project.

Deputy Commissioner Hafizur Rahman Chowdhury said this at a press conference at the Deputy Commissioner's Office on Friday. Hon'ble Prime Minister will hand over the newly constructed houses in Nilphamari to the needy families through video conferencing like all over the country.

He said, 1,250 families have been allotted in the second phase in six upazilas of the district. 1010 houses will be provided in this phase. The houses will get 150 houses in Sadar, 200 in Domar, 150 in Dimla, 300 in Jaldhaka, 150 in Kishoreganj and 60 in Syedpur upazila. All the ancillary activities including acceptance and naming of the two per cent Khas land have been completed. In addition, electricity has been provided to the allotted rooms.

A list of beggars, disabled, widows, divorced husbands and senior citizens in their sixties has been prepared for this large scale work. Through the construction of barracks on Khas land, two per cent Khas land settlement has been provided and single house has been constructed. The two-room semi-detached room has a toilet, a kitchen and utility depots. One lakh 90 thousand taka was spent for the construction of each house. The deputy commissioner added that another 240 families will be housed in the district next July.

The press conference was attended by Deputy Director (Local Government Division) Abdur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Azharul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Khandaker Nahid Hasan, Additional District Magistrate Mirza Murad Hasan Beg, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Elina Akhtar and others.

Mentioned, in the first phase, as a gift of the Prime Minister, on 23rd February this year and 638 helpless families got Paka houses in Nilphamari district.
