For Muslims, the 18th of Zilhajj is a significant day. The whole month of Zilhajj has been regarded as significant in light of Islamic history and Hadith Quran. On the day of the Farewell Hajj, Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) announced Hazrat Mawla Ali's (RA) successor by reciting the "Ghadir-e-Khumm" Khutba.
Later, it was celebrated as Eid-ul-Ghadir, the speakers opined. Speakers said this at the inauguration ceremony of Maula Ali (R) Ghadir-e-Khumma organized by the World Muslim Ummah at the hall room of Asian SR Hotel on Station Road in Chittagong on Friday afternoon. The speakers also said that Muslims are being distorted from the true history of Islam and a group of brokers syndicate scholarships are creating confusion by giving wrong information to broker the country of Europe. For example, the month of Muharram is the waking month of Islam. It played a historic role in the spread of Islam by Muslims, as well as the announcement of Maula Ali's replacement. Presided over by Zahedul Islam, convener of World Muslim Ummah, the function was addressed by Himu Hamid, Assistant Professor of Geography and Environmental Science Department of Chittagong University, Professor Noman Siddique, former head of Zoology Department of Omar Gani College, Kamal Parvez, bureau chief of Daily Bangladesh News and Hujjatul Islam Maulana Md. Amzad Hossain as special guests. Shahjahan Ali Maizvandary, Abdul Hakim and Manjurul Alam also spoke on the occasion. The program started with recitation from the Holy Quran by Maulana Mizanur Rahman conducted by Iqbal Bin Malek and Islamic Naat and poetry were recited in the gaps between the speeches.
