Rupnagar, Adabar most infection-prone areas of Dhaka: IEDCR

Apart from the two, 17 other areas were found with above 30% infection rate


Rupnagar and Adabar have turned out to be the riskiest areas of Dhaka with 46% and 44% Covid-19 infection rates respectively.

Apart from these two, 17 other areas - Shah Ali, Rampura, Turag, Mirpur, Kalabagan, Tejgaon, Mohammadpur, Mugda, Ganderia, Dhanmondi, Hazaribag, New Market, Chawkbazar, Sabujbag, Motijheel, Darussalam and Khilgaon - were found with above 30% infection rate.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) made the disclosure on Saturday evening.

The coronavirus situation in Bangladesh is going downhill as the country recorded all-time high daily death toll at 77 on Saturday.

With the new deaths, the total deaths reached at 9,661 in the country.

Following a sharp rise in Covid-19 infections over the past few days, the number of cases on Saturday dropped, with 5,343 fresh cases recorded in the last 24 hours. The number was 7,462 on Friday and 6,854 the day before yesterday.

The Covid-19 caseload now stands at 6,78,937 with an infection rate of 20.49%. However, the overall infection rate in the country stands at 13.65%.
