A student of Dhaka University has been found dead in a building of Azimpur Staff Quarters on Sunday. The Fire Service and Civil Defence broke open the door of a toilet inside the building and found Ishrat Tushti, 21, a student of English at Dhaka University.
The rescuers took Tushti to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she was pronounced dead, said Ershad Hossain, an official of the Fire Service Control Room.
Tushti did not have any injury mark on her body, said Inspector Md Bacchu Mia of Dhaka Medical Police Outpost.
She lived with another friend of her in a room on the ground floor of the building No. 18 in Azimpur Staff Quarters. They went to bed at night and Tushti used the toilet in the morning but did not return. Her friend called the Fire Service after hearing no response from inside the toilet for a long time, said Inspector Helaluddin of Lalbagh Police Station.
Police opened an investigation into her death.
Tushti, a native of Neelkanthapur in Netrokona, was affiliated to Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Hall, said her classmate Tabassum Rahi.
Dhaka University Proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani said the university authorities are working to find out the reason behind Tushti’s death and can provide details following the autopsy report.
