The Dhaka North City Corporation will carry out an integrated mosquito eradication programme from 8-16 March (excluding Friday) in its areas.
Each day, the crash campaign will be carried out in one area where all the workers and vehicles of Dhaka North mosquito control department will participate, reads a press release.
Dhaka North Mayor Md Atiqul Islam announced the campaign's work plan at the 5th corporation meeting held at the Rawa Club on Tuesday noon.
“We will carry out an intensive campaign to eradicate Culex mosquitoes from Dhaka North. We will also conduct a cleaning campaign. Our goal is to 'sweep' the whole Dhaka North,” the mayor said.
Addressing the councillors, the mayor said, “I will be on the ground during the campaign and hope each of you will be present as well.”
He added that senior officials of Dhaka North will monitor the activities during the campaign.
The Geographic Information System mapping is undergoing to carry out the entire campaign in a well-planned manner, he said further.
During the campaign, larviciding will be carried out each day from 6 am to 12 pm and adulticiding will take place from 4 pm to 6 pm. Cleaning activities will continue at the same time. Dhaka North's health department, waste management department, and engineering department will collaborate to ensure the successful completion of the campaign.
The campaign schedule is as follows: 8 March - Mirpur 2 (Region 2), 9 March - Mirpur 10 (Region 4), 10 March - Karwan Bazar (Region 5), 11 March - Mohakhali (Region 3), 13 March - Bhatara (Region 9) and Satarkul (Region 10), 14 March - Uttara (Region 1), 15 March - Dakshin Khan (Region 7) and Uttar Khan (Region 8) and 16 March - Harirampur (Region 6).
All the councillors and senior officials of Dhaka North attended the meeting among others.
