A large part of the country, including the capital city of Dhaka, and the Northeastern city of Sylhet were jolted as a moderate earthquake on Friday morning.
According to the Meteorological Department, The magnitude of the quake was 4.9 on the Richter scale. The earthquake occurred at 10:40 am and its epicenter was in neighboring country Myanmar.
Rubayet Kabir, officer-in-charge of the Earthquake Observation and Research Center of the Meteorological Department, said that the epicenter of the earthquake was a place called Homalin in Myanmar, 482 kilometers from Dhaka. Its impact was felt in the capital, Sylhet in the northeastern region and some surrounding areas.
