The Bangladeshi super brand Walton has launched crores of taka worth scholarship project for the students. Under this project, Walton Digi-Tech Industries Limited’s Laptop Department announced to provide students at least Tk 1 crore as scholarship in the next three months on their each purchase of Walton digital devices, including purchase laptop, computer, tablet PC, desktop or all-in-one computer.
From June 1, students will get scholarship, ranging from Tk 2000 to Tk 100,000, for each Walton digital devices purchase.
The scholarship project was announced at an inaugural ceremony, arranged with maintaining proper health safety rules and social distance at Walton Corporate Office in the capital on Sunday (May 30, 2021).
Virtually attending the event as the chief guest, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni inaugurated the Walton scholarship while State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain was also present as special guest.
Addressing the function, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said, “Even though the educational institutions are closed due to corona, we have continued teaching through online and television. However, we have not been able to reach all the students due to the lack of sufficient digital devices. In this context, Walton's crores of taka worth scholarship project and also the interest-free installment facility will make the digital devices more available to students. Walton’s such initiative is highly commendable. This is good news for students and the education system.”
She added that Walton is a domestic company and also the super brand. By leading this sector, Walton is not only boosting the country’s digital device manufacturing sector but also making a significant contribution in forwarding Digital Bangladesh. And thus, she wish them a great success.
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Ministry Zakir Hossain said, Walton has been manufacturing digital devices in Bangladesh since 2016. They are meeting the domestic demand as well as exporting digital devices. They are branding Bangladesh in the global arena.
He hoped that Walton will lead the country’s hi-tech products’ manufacturing to be one of the major export earnings like the readymade garment sector.
Walton Digi-Tech Industries’ Chairman SM Rezaul Alam presided over the inaugural function while Walton Hi-Tech Industries’ Managing Director Engineer Golam Murshed was also present.
Among others, Walton Hi-Tech’s Deputy Managing Directors Nazrul Islam Sarker, Eva Rezwana Nilu, Amdadul Haque Sarker and Humayun Kabir, Walton Plaza Trades’ Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Rayhan, Walton’s Chief Marketing Officer Firoj Alam and other senior senior officials of the campany was also present. And, Executive Director Azizul Hakim moderated the programme.

Addressing the event as the chair, Walton Digi-Tech’s Chairman SM Rezaul Alam said, “The initiative of launching scholarship project has been taken with an attempt to do something for the students during the corona pandemic. We hope the students will benefit from this project. We look forward to continuing this activity for a long time to come.”
Walton Hi-Tech’s Managing Director Engineer Golam Murshed said, “The project has been launched so that not a student would deprive from education due to the lack of digital device. We want that everyone to be enlightened in the light of education. When the education rate and quality will increase, the nation will be educated as well, Bangladesh will be at the top position in the world. Already, Walton's glorious journey in the global market has been commenced. Our prime goal is that Walton will represent Bangladesh in the world electronics and technology products’ markets very soon.”
Walton Digi-Tech’s Deputy Managing Director Engineer Liakat Ali said, the scholarship project has launched to make the online based digital education ease for the students. Besides, they are getting 12 months installment facility at zero interest on Walton digital devices purchase.
He said, students will register digitally with their own or parent's mobile number after purchasing a laptop, computer, tablet PC, desktop or all-in-one computer from any Walton showroom in the country. Then an SMS will be sent to their mobile informing the amount of scholarship money through software controlled automated processing. They will be able to receive the scholarship money in cash or adjust the price of the purchased product.
